Debt recovery is an important aspect of banking and holds responsibility for making calls or visiting debtors to collect payments on any kind of past due bill without violating the regulations implemented by RBI. Banks and lawful debt collection agencies appoint debt recovery agents and they act as representatives of the Bank. Their other responsibilities also include providing debtors every important detail of their loan's terms & conditions and guide them accordingly for the payment.

Business Correspondents (BCs) & Business Facilitators (BFs) act as representatives appointed by the Banks and hold the responsibility of providing banking related services in remote locations, which are deprived of financial inclusion due to the absence of promotion by the physical presence of the bank. The fundamental difference in the role of the BC and BF is that BCs are permitted to carry out regular transactions for customers on behalf of the bank. On the other hand, the responsibilities of BFs solely includes spreading awareness related to banking and bank's products, assisting the bank in business generation activities and recovery of bad debts. They are not accountable for undertaking any cash transactions.
The responsibility of a BFs and BCs is quite challenging and hence requires them to be self driven and ambitious. Also, they must bear good communication skills in order to be able to clearly convey messages to customers.
